Welcome

Fit to Play and Learn (FTPL) was created by pediatricians, Dr. Cori Cross and Dr. Tracy Zaslow, to teach students and their families how to live healthier and more active lives. One in 3 children are overweight or obese. When a child is overweight, it can be harmful to their health and can lead to many serious and chronic medical conditions.

Through five short sessions the FTPL curriculum teaches students why it is important to be healthy, how to read nutrition labels, choose healthy meals, decrease sugar sweetened beverages and become more active.

The FTPL program is unique in that it also includes an educational session for parents and provides a bilingual parent guide to help implement healthy choices at home.

The FTPL program is often taught by school nurses but can be taught by classroom and physical education teachers as well.

The FTPL curriculum is open to all schools free of charge. If you are interested in learning more or becoming a Fit to Play and Learn School, please log in and fill out the registration materials. All materials are available through the website once you have registered.
If you would like your child’s school to become a Fit to Play and Learn School, please contact us at fittoplayandlearn@gmail.com. We would be happy to work with you in recruiting a coordinator at your school.
